Danny Wilson to discuss ‘Into Thin Air: The Cloud Conflict’ on the opening day of SMPTE15 in Sydney, Australia

Sydney, July 14, 2015 – Danny Wilson, CEO of Torque Video Systems, is scheduled to speak on day one Conference of SMPTE15, during the ‘Controversy Corner: where will be 100 years from now?’ session.

“The critical combination of continued advances in compression techniques and speeding up of internet services is putting additional pressure on the traditional TV players, as consumers have more consumption avenues, added distraction, and increased sources of content,” said Danny Wilson. He added, “The rise of the internet, Cloud-based encoding and playout centres offer tremendous new opportunities for broadcasters to provide better service at lower cost. Simultaneously, surging smart phone penetration and the consequent escalation in mobile data usage is driving mobile operators to seek out more RF spectrum needed to offer LTE and other 4G services.”

In line with this, his presentation will cover a review of key cloud technologies as well as the political and economical changes under way, risks and growth opportunities for the broadcast industry.

Torque will also feature its new DVMon, a compact digital video monitoring platform for television networks, at the Techtel booth B-04, throughout the week.

Danny Wilson presently chairs the committee of Media Production, Content Distribution, Digital Advertising, Immersive Media Research at the Singapore Infocomm Media Master Plan 2025. He frequently speaks at numerous broadcast technology and educational conferences in North America, Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific.

SMPTE15 is held from July 14 to 17, by the Hordern Pavilion & Royal Hall of Industries, Moore Park, Sydney, Australia.
