Torque Video Systems returns to NAB, offering Mass Transcode Solutions to cut power bills
Las Vegas, NV, April 14, 2023 – Torque Video Systems, the global provider of innovative solutions for digital television networks and streaming media services, is back at the 100th NAB Show, casting the spotlight on its Pelican Transcode Platform.
Danny Wilson, Founder and CEO of Torque Video Systems said, “Pelican consumes considerably less energy and rack space than traditional software or GPU-based transcoding systems. The savings are striking: for 1000 streams, switching to Pelican results in direct cost savings of about $75,000 per year, in the US. In Europe, where electricity prices are much higher, yearly savings are significantly more. Supporting H.264, HEVC, and HDR via a full VLSI chipset, Pelican provides up to 192 full HD transcodes in a 1RU form factor.”
Torque Pelican provides mass decode-encode functionality for H.264/AVC and H.265/HEVC, for live IP transcode (UDP/RTP/HTTP) and file-based transcode workflows. A complete appliance, it can lead to immediate cost-performance benefits in a number of user cases.
Few companies have the resources to design their own VLSI chip for transcoding, so Torque launched the Pelican transcoding platform to provide highly scalable and cost-effective hardware transcoding. Capable of transcoding hundreds of live streams or performing media file conversions in the most demanding environments, Pelican gets the job done while saving time, space and money.
Torque Video Systems NAB booth is located at the LVCC West Hall W2313. Demos are available on-site from April 16 to 19.
