Torque Video Systems rolls out its Pelican Pico Mini Encoder and Puffin Mini Decoder, powered with the unique Torque FlightDeck Distribution Management System

Las Vegas, NV, March 27, 2025Torque Video Systems, the global expert in advanced solutions for digital television networks and streaming media services, announced the roll out of its Pelican Pico Mini Encoder and Puffin Mini Decoder. These new additions to its suite of compression products include SDI encoding for Pelican, as well as the entirely new Puffin Decoder for SDI and HDMI. All the products maintain a small carbon footprint solution and are budget-friendly to fit every network operations, particularly event broadcasters such as live shows, concerts and sporting events.

Pelican Pico Encoder
This compact SD/HD-SDI encoder supports both live streaming via UDP/RTMP/SRT and OTT streaming with a built in HLS/MPEG-DASH low latency origin server. Extensive JSON REST API allows remote control via an automation or management system.

Puffin Decoder
Options for the Puffin come in IP-to-HDMI as well as IP-to-SDI models. This smart decoder can be controlled remotely via a REST API or simple Web GUI.

Pelican Dual 4K Encoder
Providing dual 4K inputs, the Pelican 4K can stream at multiple resolutions simultaneously. For example, stream 4K to the production system while providing a low resolution proxy over HLS to preview video content. Another unique feature is the built-in storage, providing over 100 hours of high quality on-site recording. For maximum system integrity, Pelican 4K features dual network interfaces for network-level redundancy.

On-site demos will be available at NAB 2025 Booth W2917, from April 6 to 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
